Established in 1936, the Department of History at Government Mahakoshal College, Jabalpur (a Pradhanmantri College of Excellence), has a long-standing legacy of academic distinction and intellectual rigor. The department offers a comprehensive curriculum that includes a 3-year B.A. degree, a 4-year B.A. (Hons.) degree, and a 2-year M.A. in History, designed to cultivate critical thinking, historical awareness, and research aptitude among students. With a dedicated faculty strength of five members—four permanent and one guest—the department is enriched by the leadership and academic contributions of Dr. Alkesh Chaturvedi, the college principal, who also hails from the department. Under the stewardship of Mr. Manvendra Singh Yadav, Head of the Department, the faculty remains committed to academic excellence and holistic student development.
