Dr. Smita Belwanshi is currently serving as an Assistant Professor in the Department of English at Prime Minister College of Excellence, Government Mahakoshal Arts and Commerce

Autonomous College, Jabalpur (Madhya Pradesh). She joined the Department of Higher Education, Government of Madhya Pradesh, in July 2004 and has since accumulated over 21

years of teaching experience at both undergraduate and postgraduate levels. She was awarded her Ph.D. in English in 2008 and has consistently contributed to the academic and administrative life of the institution through her dedication and multifaceted engagement.

Over the course of her career, Dr. Belwanshi has actively participated in a variety of academic and professional development activities. These include workshops on e-governance, computer awareness training programs, Cambridge Assessment English programs, business communication and soft skills training, professional development programs,

governance strategies and excellence in higher education, and specialized programs on teaching and learning English as a second language. Her commitment to quality teaching is reflected in her constant efforts to integrate innovative methods in the classroom.

Dr. Belwanshi has also played a key role in several institutional committees. She has served as a member and convener of the Internal Quality Assurance Cell (IQAC), AISHE committee, guest faculty verification committee, Indian Knowledge System committee, post matric scholarship committee, and Bhartiya Gyan Parampra committee.and various other committes Her administrative involvement has significantly contributed to institutional governance and quality enhancement in higher education. She has also served as the convener of the non-conventional teaching initiative in the academic years 2013–14 and 2014–15. This innovative program aimed at enhancing

communicative English skills among students through experiential and alternative teaching methods.

In the academic year 2015–16, she coordinated an extension activity under the college’s social outreach program. As part of this initiative, she visited nearby government schools along with students of English literature, where they conducted sessions aimed at developing

communication skills among school students. This activity not only promoted language learning but also helped college students engage meaningfully with the local community. Dr. Belwanshi also organized and led short-term courses on Communicative English for students in the

academic sessions 2017–18, 2022–23, and 2023–24, which were designed to build confidence and fluency in English among learners from diverse backgrounds.

She is currently in charge of the English Language Laboratory and the Postgraduate English Library, where she actively supports resource management and student learning. In February 2023, she contributed her services during an educational tour conducted by the Department of English, offering students experiential learning outside the classroom. She has also worked as a member of organizing committees for several national seminars hosted by the department and has held key academic positions such as a member of the Board of Studies in English. She is an

 

active member of the English Language Teachers’ Association of India (ELTAI), where she remains engaged in the broader academic discourse around English language teaching.

Dr. Smita Belwanshi received official letters of appreciation from the Collector of Jabalpur for her exemplary services rendered as a Master Trainer during the Vidhan Sabha Election in 2013 and the Lok Sabha Election in 2018. These acknowledgments reflect her dedication to public

service in addition to her academic responsibilities. She has authored several research papers published in reputed peer-reviewed journals and has presented her work at numerous national and international seminars and conferences. She has also contributed a chapter to a book titled Stars on Earth, further reflecting her scholarly engagement and literary interest.
